텍사스 홍수 피해 구호헌금 5만 6천 달러 전달 글로벌감리교회 한미연회, 사랑과 섬김으로 이웃을 세우다 지난 7월 텍사스 지역에 발생한 대규모 홍수 피해 복구를 위해 글로벌감리교회 한미연회(Korean American Annual Conference, GMC)가 구호헌금 56,853달러를 GMC Mid-Texas 연회에 전달했습니다. 이번 폭우와 홍수는 텍사스 중부 여러 도시의 캠프 시설, 주택과 상가, 도로 기반 시설을 심각하게 침수시키며 지역 주민들의 터전에 큰 피해를 주었습니다. 이에 한미연회는 고통받는 이웃들을 위한 회복의 손길에 동참할 것을 적극 독려했고, 미 전역의 한미연회 소속 교회들이 한마음으로 기도하며 정성 어린 구호 헌금을 마련했으며, 이는 예수 그리스도의 사랑과 제자도의 정신이 담긴 귀한 나눔의 결실입니다. 구호헌금은 지난 10월 30일, 한미연회를 대표하여 김원동 목사 (달라스중앙감리교회 EM)가 텍사스 프리스코에 위치한 First Frisco GMC교회 담임목사이자 Mid-Texas 연회 달라스 지방감리사 마크 보웰 목사를 통해 전달되었습니다. 이 헌금은 Mid-Texas 연회 본부를 통해 피해 지역교회와 주민들을 위한 지원, 복구 활동 등에 사용될 예정입니다. “갑작스런 홍수로 고통받는 이웃들에게 하나님의 위로하심을 기도하며, 어려운 상황 속에서도 공동체를 섬기는 텍사스 중부 지역 교회들이 다시 힘을 얻고 재건될 수 있도록 격려하는 마음을 모았습니다. 앞으로도 글로벌감리교회 한미연회 공동체는 예수 그리스도의 사랑을 실천하며 세상에 희망을 전하는 귀한 사명을 감당할 것입니다"라고 밝히며, 한미연회 류계환 총감리사는 구호헌금 모금에 참여한 한미연회 소속 교회와 성도들의 헌신에 깊은 감사를 표했습니다. $56,000 in Flood Relief Funds Delivered for Texas Flood RecoveryGMC Korean American Annual Conference Builds Communities Through Love and Service To support recovery efforts following the severe flooding that struck Texas this past July, the Global Methodist Church (GMC) Korean American Annual Conference (KAAC) delivered $56,853 in disaster relief funds to the GMC Mid-Texas Annual Conference. The heavy rainfall and flooding caused extensive damage across multiple cities in Central Texas, severely inundating camp facilities, homes, businesses, and road infrastructure, leaving many local residents deeply affected. In response, the Korean American Annual Conference actively encouraged participation in relief efforts for neighbors in need. Churches across the United States within the KAAC joined together in prayer and contributed generous relief offerings. These gifts represent the fruit of sacrificial giving rooted in the love of Jesus Christ and the spirit of Christian discipleship. The relief funds were officially delivered on October 30, on behalf of the KAAC, by Rev. Won-Dong Kim (Dallas Central Methodist Church, EM) to Rev. Mark Vowell, Senior Pastor of First Frisco GMC and Dallas District Presiding Elder of the Mid-Texas Annual Conference, at First Frisco GMC in Frisco, Texas. The funds will be distributed through the Mid-Texas Annual Conference headquarters and used to support affected churches, local residents, and ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts in the impacted areas. “We prayed for God’s comfort for our neighbors suffering from this sudden disaster, and we gathered these offerings with a heart to encourage the churches of Central Texas that continue to serve their communities even in the midst of hardship,” said Rev. Kyehwan Ryu, Presiding Elder of the Korean American Annual Conference. “The KAAC community will continue to carry out its calling to practice the love of Jesus Christ and share hope with the world.” Rev. Ryu also expressed deep gratitude for the dedication and generosity of the KAAC churches and members who participated in the relief offering.
