1. 거룩함으로 일어나라 - 글로벌감리교회(GMC) 한미연회 GMC 한미연회가 주최하고, 연회 교육위원회가 주관한 커넥트 컨퍼런스가 11월 26일부터 29일까지 달라스 중앙감리교회에서 열렸다. 이번 컨퍼런스는 글로벌감리교회(GMC)가 추구하는 ‘성서적 거룩함’과 ‘예수 그리스도의 제자화’ 비전 아래, 말씀과 기도로 세워지는 건강한 교회와 성도, 가정을 회복하기 위해 개최되었으며, 최상훈 목사(화양감리교회)가 주강사로 섬기는 가운데 은혜롭게 성료되었다. 코네티컷, 뉴욕, 뉴저지, 플로리다에서부터 미 중부와 서부를 거쳐 하와이까지 미 전역에서 모인 커넥트 컨퍼런스는 성인 226명, 중고등부 청소년 60명, 어린이 71명이 등록하고, 약 400여명이 참석한 온세대사역(All Generation Ministry)의 모습을 보여준 전국단위 영성집회로 자리 잡았음을 보여주었다. 글로벌감리교회(GMC)는 기존 미 연합감리교회(UMC)가 동성애자 목사안수와 동성결혼을 교단법으로 허용하게 되는 과정에서 하나님의 말씀, 성경을 지키는 감리교회 갱신운동에서 시작된 새 웨슬리안 운동이다. 또한 GMC 한미연회는 말씀의 권위와 웨슬리 신앙을 지키기 위한 한인이민교회의 전국적 네트워크이며, 성서적 결혼관 ‘한 남자와 한 여자’의 결합을 바탕으로 30-40세대 가정사역을 섬기기 위해 커넥트 컨퍼런스를 2024년 시작했다. 컨퍼런스는 한미연회의 비전을 따라 2024년 ‘복음본색’을 주제로, 2025년 ‘기도시대’ 주제로 말씀과 기도로 한인교회와 다음세대 사역을 준비하고 있다. 2. 영의 정체성으로 기도하라 한인 이민교회의 미래를 준비하는 커넥트 컨퍼런스 참가자들은 “성서적 거룩함에 기반한 영적 정체성과 말씀중심의 세계관이 도전하는 성경적 교회공동체가 개인과 가정의 믿음생활에서 얼마나 중요한지를 분명하게 일깨워 주었다. 이번 컨퍼런스는 <하나님의 DNA>, <기도는 사라지지 않는다>의 저자, 한국교회 청/장년사역 리더 최상훈 목사(화양감리교회)가 주강사로 섬겼으며, “율법이 아닌 은혜에서 출발하는 영적교제로서 기도”와 “하나님의 영적 정체성을 담아내는 새사람의 영적 정체성을 바로 하는 신앙자세”에 대해 큰 은혜를 끼쳤다. 3. 거룩함을 구하는 기도 - 온 세대의 하나됨 영어권 어린이 집회는 시카고중앙진리교회(이신애 사모) CM사역팀이, 청소년 집회는 Won D. Kim 목사(RockSpring Church, DCMC), Mark Vowell 목사(First Frisco GMC), Brian Choi 목사(Bethany GMC)가 강사로 섬겼으며, 가정예배 세미나(백은실 사모)와 크리스천 청년들의 연애, 신앙, 결혼(김기리/문지인 부부) 특강과 간증, 소그룹 모임 등도 은혜의 시간이 되었다. 부모와 청장년, Youth, 영, 유아 자녀들이 함께 참여, 기도한 이번 컨퍼런스는 이민교회 온 세대가 말씀과 기도로 연결되는 영적 커넥션을 경험하는 시간이 되었다. ‘말씀, 기도, 정체성 회복’을 중심으로 진행된 컨퍼런스의 폐회예배는 가정별 안수기도로 마무리되었으며, 커넥트의 정체성을 잘 보여주는 장면이었다. 한미연회 목회자들이 한 가정, 한 사람을 위해 안수하며 기도하는 시간 동안, 참석자들은 가정과 교회가 하나님의 부르심 안에서 거룩함으로 회복되는 깊은 은혜를 경험했다. 컨퍼런스 기간동안 온 세대가 함께 드린 눈물의 기도는 하나님의 말씀과 기도로 가정을 다시 세우도록 부르신 성도의 사명을 확인시켜 주었다. Connect Conference for Ages 20–40 Restore Spiritual Identity and Go Forth into the World
1. Rise in Holiness - Global Methodist Church (GMC) Korean American Annual ConferenceThe Connect Conference, hosted by the Global Methodist Church (GMC) Korean American Annual Conference and organized by the Conference Board of Education, was held from November 26 to 29 at Dallas Central Methodist Church. This conference was convened to restore healthy churches, believers, and families that are built through the Word of God and prayer, under the GMC's vision of Biblical Holiness and the Discipleship of Jesus Christ. The conference concluded graciously with Rev. Sanghoon Choi (Hwayang Methodist Church) serving as the keynote speaker. Participants gathered from across the United States-from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Florida, through the Midwest and the West Coast, all the way to Hawaii. A total of 226 adults, 60 middle and high school youth, and 71 children registered, with approximately 400 attendees overall. The conference established itself as a nationwide spiritual revival demonstrating a true All-Generation Ministry. The Global Methodist Church (GMC) is a new Wesleyan movement that emerged from a renewal movement within Methodism, upholding God's Word and Scripture in response to the United Methodist Church's decision to permit the ordination of openly homosexual clergy and same-sex marriage within church law. The GMC Korean American Annual Conference is a nationwide network of Korean immigrant churches committed to the authority of Scripture and Wesleyan faith. Grounded in the biblical view of marriage as the union of one man and one woman, the Conference launched the Connect Conference in 2024 to serve family ministry among the 30-40 generation. Following the Conference's vision, the 2024 theme was "The True Color of the Gospel," and the 2025 theme, "The Age of Prayer," continuing to prepare Korean churches and next-generation ministries through the Word and prayer.
2. Pray with a Spiritual IdentityParticipants preparing for the future of Korean immigrant churches testified that the conference clearly reminded them how vital a spiritual identity rooted in biblical holiness and a Word-centered worldview is for individuals, families, and church communities. The keynote speaker was Rev. Sanghoon Choi (Hwayang Methodist Church), author of God's DNA and Prayer Does Not Disappear, and a leader in youth and adult ministry within the Korean church. Through his messages, he delivered profound grace by emphasizing prayer as a spiritual fellowship that begins not with the law, but with grace, and by teaching a posture of faith that establishes a renewed spiritual identity as a new creation reflecting God's spiritual identity.
3. Prayers Seeking Holiness - Unity Across All GenerationsThe English-language children's services were led by the CM Ministry Team of Chicago Central Truth Church (Mrs. Shin-Ae Lee). The youth services featured Rev. Won D. Kim (RockSpring Church, DCMC), Rev. Mark Vowell (First Frisco GMC), and Rev. Brian Choi (Bethany GMC) as speakers. In addition, sessions such as the Family Worship Seminar (Mrs. Eun-Sil Baek), a special lecture and testimonies on Christian dating, faith, and marriage (by the couple Kiri Kim and Ji-In Moon), as well as small group gatherings, became meaningful times of grace. Parents, young adults, youth, children, and infants participated together in worship and prayer, making this conference a time in which the entire immigrant church across generations experienced a deep spiritual connection through the Word and prayer. The closing worship service, centered on "the Word, prayer, and the restoration of identity," concluded with family-by-family laying-on-of-hands prayer, vividly expressing the identity of the Connect Conference. As pastors of the Korean American Annual Conference prayed and laid hands on each family and individual, attendees experienced profound grace as families and churches were restored to holiness within God's calling.
The tearful prayers offered together by all generations throughout the conference reaffirmed the calling of believers to rebuild their families through God's Word and prayer.
