지난 여름, GMC 교단 소속 네 교회가 처음으로 연합하여 청소년 수련회를 개최하였습니다. ONE 리트릿이라는 이름으로 진행된 이번 수련회는, 무려 다섯 달간 정성껏 준비해 온 네 명의 청소년 사역자들의 헌신을 통해 이루어졌습니다. 준비팀은 다음과 같은 사역자들로 구성되었습니다: 모세 최 목사님 (베다니교회), 엘리스 유 목사님 (체리힐 제일 글로벌 감리교회), 샤론 정 디렉터님 (스태튼아일랜드 한인교회), 미셸 이 목사님 (뉴저지 바인교회). 각기 다른 교회 문화와 기대를 가지고 있었지만, 이들은 기도와 협력을 통해 하나 됨을 경험했습니다. 수련회의 주제는 에베소서 4장 4절 말씀에 기반하였으며, 이는 그리스도의 몸 된 교회의 하나 됨을 상징합니다. 2025년 6월 29일부터 7월 2일까지 뉴욕 밀란에 위치한 미러 레이크 리트릿 센터에서 진행된 이번 수련회에는 총 **155명(청소년 117명, 스태프 38명)**이 함께하였습니다. 성령님의 임재는 분명하게 느껴졌고, 내성적이고 조용하던 친구들마저 서로 깊은 관계를 맺으며 진정한 공동체를 이루어 갔습니다. 매일 말씀을 전한 준비팀의 목회자들과 리더들은 하나님의 사랑을 청소년들에게 힘 있게 선포하였고, 짧은 시간 안에 놀라운 연합이 이루어졌습니다. 이 모든 것은 하나님께서 주신 은혜였습니다. 수련회 마지막 날, 참가자들은 눈물과 포옹 속에서 작별 인사를 나누었고, 서로 연락을 이어가기로 약속했습니다. 모두가 그리스도 안에서 새로운 목적의식을 품고 돌아갔으며, 하나님과의 관계 역시 더욱 깊어졌습니다. 준비팀은 내년 여름에도 더 많은 GMC 청소년들이 함께하여 하나님의 놀라운 역사를 직접 경험하길 소망하고 있습니다. 리더들이 무대를 마련했지만, 진정한 수련회의 주역은 하나님을 향한 갈망과 열린 마음으로 임한 청소년들과 스태프였습니다. 이번 수련회는 오늘날의 청소년들이 얼마나 강인하며 가능성이 넘치는지를 보여주는 아름다운 증거였습니다. 하나님께 모든 영광을 올려 드립니다!
The ONE Retreat: A Testament to Unity This past summer, four churches came together for the first-ever GMC denomination joint youth retreat. The retreat, named "ONE Retreat," was the result of five months of dedicated planning by a core team of four youth pastors and directors: Pastor Moses Choi (Bethany Church), Pastor Elyse Yu (First Global Methodist Church of Cherry Hill), Director Sharon Jung (The Korean Church of Staten Island), and Pastor Michelle Yi (The Vine Church of NJ). Despite coming from different church cultures and expectations, the core team found unity through prayer and collaboration, basing the retreat's theme on Ephesians 4:4, the unity of the body of Christ. Held from June 29 to July 2 at the Mirror Lake Retreat Center in Milan, NY, the event brought together 155 people, 117 students and 38 staff members. The presence of the Holy Spirit was undeniable, as shy and reserved individuals quickly became friends, forming deep connections rooted in their shared encounter with Christ. Each core team leader shared the Word, conveying God's love to the youth. The retreat was a powerful testament to the unity that can be achieved in a short time, a unity that only God can create. The retreat concluded with emotional goodbyes, filled with hugs, tears, and promises to stay in touch. Participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper relationship with Christ. The core team hopes that more youth from our denomination will join us next summer to witness God's work firsthand. While the leaders set the stage, the true success of the retreat was due to the students and staff's courage, openness, and willingness to connect with God. It was a beautiful display of the incredible resilience and potential of today's youth. Glory be to God!
